WMD Awareness ProgrammeIn 2004, Professor Rotblat had become increasingly concerned about developments in nuclear weapons policies that were putting the world in increasing danger of a nuclear conflict. He was greatly concerned that the general public did not seem to be aware of these increasing dangers. In order to raise this awareness, he gathered together leaders of different Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) working in this field in the UK and the WMD Awareness Programme was created. The WMD Awareness Programme is not a campaigning body but exists simply to give clear reliable information on nuclear weapons policies and proliferation, particularly to a new generation who, in most cases, have never thought about nuclear weapons before. We try to do this in creative ways to reach out to new people rather than expect them to come to us. Photos:Anthropology 101“Anthropology 101” is a short film commissioned by WMDAP that looks at the three themes of the dangers of climate change, the increasing gap between rich and poor, and nuclear weapons. The film won an award at the Hollywood Artivist Film Festival in October 2007. The film is included in our education pack and used as part of our events at Edinburgh and Glastonbury.
