“How can we ask the young generation to abide by a culture of peace, if they know that this peace is predicated on the existence of weapons of mass destruction? If we want to get rid of terrorism, we must also change our culture, the culture of violence, which permeates society in almost every walk of life.” Joseph Rotblat 2004

The project is open to anyone up to, and including, age 25 as individuals or in groups.

What do you think Professor Rotblat’s dream of a world without war or nuclear weapons would be like?

Think about that vision and put your creative ideas into whatever art form suits you! For example, it could be in the form of:

This website provides you with background material on Professor Rotblat’s life, his work and his dream of a world without war and without nuclear weapons. As well as written material there are photographs, film clips, interviews, examples of events inspired by him, facts and figures and quotes as well as links to other source material.

A high level team of judges from different artistic backgrounds will select the best five entries from each category. They will be well-known people at the top of their professions.

In November 2008, those chosen will be invited to a day-long event at a major London venue. The day will include:

  • an award ceremony with artists from each category making the presentations
  • exhibition or performance of winning entries
  • opportunity to talk with the judges
  • a reception attended by the winners, parents, teachers and figures from the arts world
  • a major concert in the early evening.

The concert will be open to the public. The performances will be by popular musicians and the event will also include clips of Professor Rotblat’s life. There will also be short, lively speeches from major arts personalities, as well as from some of those who will have taken part in the project
